The Headwaters

The Headwaters

Completed in 2007, the Headwaters is a master planned, pedestrian-friendly and transit-supportive development consisting of three building projects:
  • 100-unit, market-rate Portland Development Commission owned Headwaters Apartments
  • The Village at Headwaters, a 56-unit affordable senior apartment project
  • 14-unit for-sale Dolph Creek Townhome
  •
The Headwaters received the 2008 ACEC Oregon Engineering Excellence Grad Award and the 2008 ASLA Design Award

The building projects flank a daylighted formerly buried headwaters creek. The Headwaters also includes off-site daylighting of the creek, public stormwater and green street improvements. The Headwaters showcases the compatibility of dense urban infill and environmental design and development. The project's goal was to demonstrate that development need not cause environmental degradation and that, when done correctly, can catalyze environmental restoration.
